Following on from last year's accomplishments at my first Half Ironman and Ironman distances this year my ultimate aim is to record a 12 hour time at Ironman Wales in September.
Beforehand and as part of my preparation, I have signed up for Action Medical Research's London to Paris Bike Ride 17th -21st July. I have committed to raise a minimum of £1,400 and have to have raised and banked £753 by 26th April and the full amount by September. I am going to be cycling the brand new D-Day landing route via Portsmouth a total distance of 325 miles arriving in Paris in time to watch the finale of the 100 th Tour de France!
My wife Jen used to be AMR's South-West Fundraising Manager so I know what a worthy cause this is. The charity has found cures for such terrible diseases as Polio, was the first to develop the hip replacement and supports research into finding cures to many devastating diseases and disabilities, not least premature birth. I have cycled a number of their 100 mile rides, including the annual Bristol or Bath to London on the August Bank Holiday, but this will be my biggest cycling challenge yet.
To find out more about AMR's work for children, for life I urge you to check out their fantastic work at http://www.action.org.uk/
